Discover The Top Beaches in Ibiza

Mention the Balearic island of Ibiza to anyone in the know, and the most likely response you’ll get is a knowing smile and a reminiscent nod. With its reputation as THE party capital of the world, with its hedonistic nightclubs and twenty-four hour clubbing atmosphere, it’s an understandable mistake to make in thinking that is all this wonderful island has to offer. However, behind this dance music-led façade, you’ll also find some of the top beaches in Ibiza are also some of the best in the Mediterranean too.

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from the better-known party aspects of Ibiza, then you can’t go far wrong with the beautiful retreat that is Benirras beach, found on the north of the island. Famous for being associated with drug-fuelled nights of debauchery back in the ‘sixties, today Benirras is a haven for the more sedate traveler. Laying in seclusion at the end of a long and windy road, the beach is the very picture of a perfect idyllic setting: deep blue seas surrounded by overhanging cliff faces and golden sands. The best part about this particular beach is that there is a protection order in place stopping hotel owners from building on it – a rare event in today’s world, and another reason why it was recently voted one of the top beaches in Ibiza.

Another of the more relaxing beaches in Ibiza is the Cala Llonga, which is situated just slightly north of Ibiza town itself. Although the beach itself is fairly small, it has a surprisingly deceptive depth to it, enabling it to accommodate many more beach-goers than you may have first thought. Since it’s in the north, where many of the more boisterous revelers tend to leave alone, this offers a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

If it is the more intensive and party going vibe that you’re after on your visit to this wondrous island, you should be checking out the infamous Playa d’en Bossa beach, which at a mere 2km from Ibiza town itself, is right at the heart of all the action. With almost all the bars playing loud dance music along the whole of the beach-front, it’s not for the weak-hearted. However, as the starting point for your big night out, it can’t be faulted.

However, one of the most popular beaches in Ibiza is surprisingly not Playa d’en Bossa (although it runs a close second) but the rather wonderful Salines beach. This offers a happy medium between all-out partying and simple relaxation – with a long and relaxing walk along the beach front, interspersed with bars galore on the way to the much-loved ultimate beach bar Sa Trinxa, it’s a great way to ease yourself in to the long night ahead.

Although Ibiza does quite rightly hold the reputation of being the ideal destination for any party-loving animal, it shouldn’t be ignored when it comes to the more traditional kind of relaxing holiday either, as the likes of Benirras and Cala Llonga and the other top beaches in Ibiza will have you discover.

Playa de los Muertos in Carboneras Almeria considered one of the best beaches in Spain, this beach is actually very unique as it has a feature that makes different from any other beach in Cabo de Gata and for that matter Spain. Playa de los Muertos is perfectly straight as if it had been deliberately drawn with a ruler but even more unique is its name. Have you wondered why it is called the beach of the dead? Apparently throughout history many bodies of pirates, sailors and merchants were washed to the shore due to the dangerous waters, the large amount of currents that exist in these waters have been the cause numerous of accidents and legends.

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria this beach offers something for everyone from all kinds of water sports to bird watching, sunbathing or just drinking at one of the bars along the beach. The beach can still be enjoyed when the tide is high taking a stroll along the edge of the cliff or drinking a beer while looking at the fantastic views from el Restaurant de Las Catedrales. The place is a lesson on how nature once more has surpassed man kind creating gothic arches even before man discovered them.

Playa de Oliva in Valencia is spectacular with its clean fine sandy beache that goes on for over 10 miles bordered by a natural dune, the single divide between the orange groves and the sea. Enjoy the sea and water sports, adventure and adrenaline or just chill in this beautiful beach.

Top Beaches in Europe

The best beaches around the world are generally those that are clean, affordable, and beautiful. There is not much more criteria to consider when thinking of the best beaches. Europe’s top beaches are often linked with Europe’s generally high prices, but with better planning, you can reduce the cost of your travel and accommodations at one of these beautiful beaches.

Although what puts a beach at the top of someone’s list is subjective, as long as a place is popular and affordable, it is bound to be at the top of anybody’s list. Even at the most popular beaches in Europe, you can avoid the crowds but still party and have a great time by following some recommendations.

Ibiza is an island known for being the party island especially in the summer when vacationers flock to its shores. Cala d’en Sera beach is a more secluded part of the island away from the raging parties and 24-hour clubs that are throughout the island. Located in the north part of Ibiza, Cala d’en Sera beach is not as active as the rest of Ibiza with young backpackers and travelers alike. Instead, it boasts only its beautiful waters and a relaxing oceanfront bar, and it gives you more of a taste of local Ibiza life. Due to the significantly smaller number of tourists that pass through here, Cala d’en Sera is more affordable with prices geared towards the locals.

Moving north, St. Tropez, France, is one of the most famous and most popular beaches in Europe. Due to its popularity, St. Tropez is expensive is crowded with tourists. Despite all of this, it still attracts tourists every year because of its beautiful beaches and resorts, casinos, wineries, and festivals. St. Tropez is also famous for its nude beaches, but, as with any other place, be sure to maintain the proper etiquette while visiting.

Another one of the top beaches in Europe is further north in Europe, in Sopot, Poland on the Baltic Sea. The population of the town is relatively small at about 50,000 people, which allows this beach to fly relatively under the radar of tourists looking for beaches to visit. Already well-known in Europe, Sopot is famous for its water sports and is becoming evermore popular amongst tourists, but it has yet to reach the high European prices that other beaches on the continent have. Sopot is family friendly as well, and there are many popular things to do there. You can walk the wooden pier in Sopot, which is one of the longest Europe at about 5 kilometers in length, or you can visit Bohaterow Monte Cassino, a pedestrian street vibrant with cafes, restaurants, and bars.
